The Prophets
God's Messengers Who Pointed to Jesus
A long time before Jesus was born, God's people kept turning away from Him. But God never gave up on them! He sent special messengers called prophets to remind the people that He loved them, to warn them when they were going the wrong way, and to promise that one day He would send a Savior.
Each prophet had a different job and lived during a different time — but they all pointed to the same amazing promise: Jesus was coming. Let's travel through the timeline and meet each one!

Mercy + Repentance
"Israel's story isn't people being perfect — it's God chasing them with mercy."
"Salvation belongs to the Lord." — Jonah 2:9
About Jonah's Time…
During Jonah's time, Israel had become comfortable and selfish. They believed God's love was only for them — not for other nations. God sent Jonah to the city of Nineveh, Israel's enemy, to show that His mercy was for everyone. Jonah ran away at first, but God used a giant fish to bring him back! Through Jonah, God taught Israel (and us) that He cares about all people, not just the ones who already know Him.

Warning + Hope
"Sometimes the truth hurts — but God warns because He loves."
"I know the plans I have for you…" — Jeremiah 29:11
About Jeremiah's Time…
The people of Israel had been breaking their promises to God for a long time. They were worshipping fake gods and treating each other badly. God sent Jeremiah to warn them that if they did not turn back, they would lose their home and be taken far away. It was a really hard job — people made fun of Jeremiah and even threw him in a muddy pit! But Jeremiah also brought an amazing promise: one day God would make a brand-new agreement with His people, written on their hearts.

Faith Under Pressure
"Even far from home… God isn't far."
"My God sent his angel and shut the lions' mouths." — Daniel 6:22
About Daniel's Time…
The warnings came true. Israel's enemies destroyed Jerusalem and carried many people away to the land of Babylon. Daniel was one of those people — taken from his home when he was just a teenager. Even though Daniel lived in a strange land with different rules, he never stopped trusting God. God used Daniel to show the most powerful kings in the world that there is only one true God — and that God protects those who are faithful to Him.

Rebuilding the Word
"They didn't just rebuild a city — they rebuilt what they believed."
"The joy of the Lord is your strength." — Nehemiah 8:10
About Ezra's Time…
After many years in Babylon, God kept His promise and brought His people back home to Israel. But everything was broken — the temple was destroyed and the people had forgotten God's Word. God sent Ezra, a priest and teacher, to help the people learn the Scriptures again. When Ezra read God's Word out loud, the people cried because they realized how far they had drifted. Ezra helped them fall in love with God's Word all over again.

Rebuilding Community
"They built with one hand and protected with the other — because their hope mattered."
"Do not be afraid… Remember the Lord." — Nehemiah 4:14
About Nehemiah's Time…
Even though the people had come back home, the walls of Jerusalem were still in ruins. Without walls, the city had no protection and the people felt afraid. God put it on Nehemiah's heart to rebuild those walls, even though he was living far away as a cup-bearer to the king. Nehemiah gathered the people and they worked together, building with one hand and holding a weapon in the other to stay safe. In just 52 days the walls were finished — and the people knew God was with them.
