The Path of Obedience

Draw the journey Jesus chose for us

"You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."

MARK 1:11
💡
The Big Idea
Jesus didn't need to be baptized — He had no sin. But He chose to step into the water anyway. He obeyed His Father and identified with us. That obedience was the beginning of the road to saving the world.

Draw a Maze — The Path of Obedience
Create your own maze on a blank piece of paper. Mark the START with a person figure — that's Jesus. Mark the END with a river and a dove — that's baptism. Add twists, turns, and dead ends in between, because obedience isn't always easy. Then draw the one correct path through!
💡 What hard choices might be along the path? Label them on the maze walls.
Journey
Drawing 2
The Journey Map
Draw a winding road or river path from the top to the bottom of your page. Along the path, mark 3 to 5 moments of obedience — things Jesus chose to do even though they were hard. End the path at the Jordan River with a dove coming down from the sky.
💬 Add a speech bubble from heaven: "This is my beloved Son!"

Before & After the Water
Fold your paper in half. On the left side draw what the world looked like before Jesus stepped into the Jordan — lost, dark, wandering. On the right side draw what happens when Jesus obeys — the dove, the voice from heaven, something brand new beginning.
🌈 Use dark colors on the left, bright colors on the right!

My Obedience Path
Draw a path that starts with YOU. What's something God might be asking you to obey — something hard, something that takes courage? Draw the path from where you are now to where that obedience leads. What does the finish line look like?
❤️ There's no wrong answer. This one is just between you and God.

Teacher Talk
While kids draw, walk the room and ask: "What made Jesus's choice to be baptized hard?" and "What happens when we choose the hard, right thing?" When they finish, let a few kids share their maze or path. Point out: obedience isn't always the easy route — but it's always the one that leads somewhere good.
